To promote an active and healthy lifestyle, popularize football among children and youth, and strengthen the exchange of experiences and friendships between football clubs from different countries, the international tournament “Valkas/Valgas Football Cup” is organized every year on the Latvian–Estonian border – in Valka and Valga.
The tournament aims to bring together people from different regions with diverse experiences and mindsets, fostering the exchange of knowledge, skills, and ideas both on and off the football field. Therefore, each year, not only teams from Latvia and Estonia are invited to participate, but also football clubs from fellowship towns and other European countries.
This year, teams can apply until June 5 by sending the application to sports@valka.lv. The tournament is intended for two age groups:
- U10 (born in 2015/2016),
- U12 (born in 2013/2014).
It is planned that matches in the U10 age group will be played in a 7-a-side format, while the U12 group will compete in a 9 -a-side format. Detailed information about the competition format, regulations, and other organizational matters is available in the tournament rules.
